Living Discipleship

This thirteen-week course has been taught to over 1,000,000 people nationwide. All the basics of the Christian faith are covered: the Ten Commandments, the Apostles' Creed, the Lord's Prayer, Holy Baptism, Holy Communion, etc. Many other subjects are covered as well. The basic textbook for the course is the Bible itself.

This course serves a variety of purposes:  as an introduction to non-Christians concerning the Christian faith, as a new members class for those who wish to formally join as members of Trinity, for baptized members of the congregation age 16 and older who (for whatever reason) were never confirmed, as a refresher course for "seasoned" members, and for people who are just curious about the Lutheran Christian perspective.

Class sessions last 90 minutes.  This course is offered several times a year and is taught by the Pastor.   For more information, a schedule for the next class, or to register, please call the church office at 724-846-0544.

Wednesday Bible Study

Beginning September 15, Pastor Henry will be leading us through a new series of Bibles studies on Wednesdays.  The afternoon session will run from 12:30-1:30 PM; the evening session will be from 7:00-8:00 PM.  These 1-hour sessions will utilize DVDs to help present the material.

Our first offering, lasting four weeks (September 15-October 6), is entitled "Discovering the Bible."  This course is a basic introduction to the Bible for those who hav elittle or no background.  It is also a stimulating refresher for those who have long loved the Bible, but never really explored the incredible story of where it actually came from and how it was passed on to us.

Our second offering, lasting six weeks (October 13-November 17), will be "Jesus the New Way."  This course seeks to answer the questions "Who is Jesus?" and "Why did he come?"  Noted British scholar, Dr. Tom Wright, uncovers fascinating backgrounds from the first-century world of Jesus and shows how he was indeed a "new way," both then and now.  You will see Jesus as you have never seen him before, in the context of his Jewish and Roman world.  As we look at his incomporable life, we will see how Jesus remains an unavoidable challenge to our world and to our way of thinking.

To finish the year, our third offering, lasting four weeks (December 1-22), is "The Apostles' Creed."  This series will trace the origin of the Creed, placing it in its historical context.  Each phrase is examined, emphasizing its relevance and application to our lives today.

All members and friends of Trinity are encouraged to get involved in a Bible study this year!
